Season analysis after Korea

Perez has had some very impressive race results this year but unfortunately people have now realised this and he rarely has high odds. This makes Perez often quite bad value. The Sauber is extremely temperamental , in some races Perez looks like the fastest man on the field and in other races top 10 finishes are out of reach. On this basis Perez no longer good value for money as the Sauber is an uncompetitive car in three quarters of the races. On this basis live betting is ideal for Perez. If live betting is impossible then wait until after qualifying since the Sauber rarely qualifies well, pushing up his odds directly prior to the race.

When betting on Perez aim for the podium rather than top 6 or top 10. Three of the four times that Perez has managed a top 6 finish he has also taken a podium whilst he has taken a podium on almost half his top 10 finishes. If Perez is showing strong pace as the race progresses the best option is to bet on podium rather than a lower position. Betting on a victory could make a substantial profit as a victory was realistic in Malaysia and Hungary but podiums are the safer bet.

Season analysis after Hungary

Perez is arguably the best driver from the lower midfield. When the situation comes together he is extremely successful, with two podiums and possibly a third if not for his grid penalty in Germany. Perez's skill is tire management, making his tires last during critical points of the race or sometimes taking one less pitstop than his competitors. Betting on a podium for Perez is a good high risk bet. Race victories at not inconceivable, chasing down Alonso in Malyasia to finish 2nd. However, it would be true high risk bet, with huge payout but unlikely to occur even once a season.

Perez is quite inconsistent, scoring well or not scoring at all. Despite two podiums, only one other time has he finished top six, with only four points finishes this season. This is probably due to temperamental nature of the Sauber, suiting low temperature course. His qualifying performance has also held him back, having only reached Q3 on four occasions. Unless his consistency improves, riskier bets on podiums or top six are better than points finishes. He is one to watch for live betting, following his tire management and the opportunities it can bring when his competitors pit earlier.
