Season analysis after Korea

Most bookies consider Grosjean the weaker driver to Raikkonen and the odds reflect this. For a time this undervaluing made Grosjean excellent value for money. Whilst he had some terrible first lap incidents at the start of the season he soon appeared to have learnt his mistakes and became a highly competitive racer. However, with more first lap incidents in Belgium and Japan Grosjean returned to being a far poorer driver than Raikkonen, making Grosjean rarely worth a bet.

With the Red Bull looking so dominant race victories are out. To gain the remaining place on the podium after the Red Bulls Grosjean would have to beat Hamilton, Alonso and Raikkonen, none of which is likely. Top 6 is the best he can usually hope for. However, for a fast car like Lotus top 6 finishes are a long term low profit bet which require a consistent driver, very much the opposite of Grosjean’s current performance. The same is also true of top 10 finishes, making Grosjean rarely worth currently betting on.

Season analysis after Hungary

Most bookies consider Grosjean the weaker driver to Raikkonen and the odds reflect this. Grosjean's potential is difficult to assess, having had so many retirements at the start of the season. These were partially bad luck and partially beginner's mistakes which Grosjean appears to have learnt from. Ignoring those first few races, Grosjean seems almost equal to Raikkonen but usually has slightly higher odds, making him better value for money.

Except for his third position in Hungary, Grosjean has never finished a race worse than the position he started in. Betting on Grosjean to finish slightly higher than he qualifies is usually a good bet, meaning podiums and top 6 are recommended. Of the seven races he finished this year, six were top 6 and three were podiums. He is too unreliable for top 10 bets though. A race win for Grosjean is certainly possible but with difficulty of guessing which race, podiums and top six are better bets.
